The AVA hosts an annual conference that encompasses all aspects of the veterinary profession. International and local speakers bring a wealth of information to keep Australia veterinarians up to date. The AVA Annual General Meeting is held during conference week and this gives Australian vets who are AVA members an opportunity to direct the future of the profession.
There are numerous other educational and social events hosted by the AVA.Details about the AVA conferences and other AVA funded events go to the AVA website. The AVA Conference in 2011 will be held 15-20 May 2011, at the Adelaide Convention Centre. The topic is Evidence-based medicine. Check the website for more details www.ava.com.au/avaconference

PennHIP Training Workshop
A PennHIP training workshop will be held in conjunction with the AVA Conference 2011. Over the next 5 years the ASAVA will be promoting and supporting the PennHIP hip dysplasia screening system in Australia. At the same time the AVA/ANKC hip dysplasia screening system will continue. At the end of a 5-year period the results from these two systems will be reviewed and compared. We hope you will join us in this history-making effort by registering for the PennHIP training workshop and becoming certified to perform the PennHIP procedure.
The PennHIP system is rapidly gaining worldwide acceptance. It is routinely performed in more than 30 countries and is poised to be the next ‘standard’ hip screening method. PennHIP is supported by more than 20 years of scientific research and more than 30 peer-reviewed scientific publications. The PennHIP database of screened dogs has grown to more than 90,000.
For more information on PennHIP please go to the website www.pennhip.org
More details will released as the Conference approaches.
